Englishlink is a nice website with a very professional and straightforward approach. In addition, the site was easy to use and the home page was one of the best we’ve seen. They must be doing a lot of things right because they won 2 awards, given by LEARNX, one for best distance learning 2009 and one for Learning Leader 2009.
We were also impressed with the fact that they offer a money back guarantee, if your English hasn’t improved after one unit, which consists of eleven lessons, you’ll get your money back. They also live help for any questions you might have.
Unfortunately Englishlink doesn’t offer a forum, but we found their blog to be very well-maintained with lots of interesting topics to choose from.
We were very disappointed to see that Englishlink doesn’t offer communication through Skype nor do they use web conferencing.
Englishlink’s team is very impressive. They come from lots of different backgrounds and they also have considerable experience in teaching English. But we would like to point out that Englishlink does not use tutors. This means that the opportunities for true interaction with the language are at a minimum.
We checked out their syllabi and we found them to be very well laid out and it was obvious what students would learn in each section.
The site also had some unique features, such as explaining about English accents, body language, and grammar topics. They also offered some really good tongue twisters that were a lot of fun to practice.
Example questions are given and they supply audio clips of the answers so students hear a good answer with the proper inflection and correct structure.
Englishlink’s Business English is focused on getting a job. They offer modules that cover resume writing, how to write cover letters and how to conduct yourself during a job interview. In fact, Englishlink may have been the very best of all of them when it came to resume and cover letter writing assistance.
We really liked the Englishlink “word of the day” section. We also liked the study tips available on their website.
One think we really liked was a test on slang. They had lots of examples and we really enjoyed answering the questions.
Englishlink definitely has its positive points. Their web design impressed us and there was an organization of the lessons and the overall site that would be hard to beat. However, the fact that they don’t offer tutors is a great disappointment. And the lack of a forum means that the chance for truly internalizing English is at a minimum.
Check Englishlink out any way. It could be what you’re looking for especially with resume help.
